This einrúm hat and scarf is designed by Kristín Brynja Gunnarsdóttir. The pattern is designed for einrúm E yarn qualities in three sizes. The hat is worked in the round and the scarf is worked flat. The pattern of the hat and the scarf refers to the columnar basalt in different heights and proportions.
Columnar basalt was one of the rock formations my grandfather taught me about as we travelled the country, explaining how the columns formed as the lava cooled.
There are two versions of the pattern, a downloadable and a booklet which you can have sent by post.
3 mm (US 3) circular needle, 40 cm.
200 g einrúm E yarn qualities.
The pictured hat and scarf is knitted in colour 1002.
