
INCREASING AND DECREASING IN LACE PATTERNS with Sari Nordlund

This class will expand your knowledge about lace knitting, concentrating especially on how to continue in pattern when increasing or decreasing in lace patterns.
Required knowledge: basic knit and purl stitches, basic increases (m1L, m1Lp, m1R and m1Rp), basic decreases (k2tog, p2tog, ssk and ssp), basic lace with yarn overs, working charts flat and in the round
Materials needed:
- small skeins of yarn for swatching. The yarns should be preferably DK or worsted weight, for example merino or other smooth fibers with good stitch definition in light, unicolor colorway so you can easily see your stitches
- needles suitable for the yarn, for example 3 mm or 3.5 mm needles. I suggest using 40 cm cables, but you can choose DPNs or longer cables, such as you are comfortable making swatches with

About Sari
Sari Nordlund is a professional knitwear designer in Southern Finland near Helsinki. Her work has been published in many of the prestigious knitting magazines, such as Laine magazine, Pom Pom Quarterly and Amirisu. Sari has also worked as a freelance designer for leading yarn companies, including Woolfolk and Brooklyn Tweed. She is currently working on a book that will consist of 20 knitting patterns in her signature style. The book is coming out in autumn 2023.
Sari’s designing work is inspired by Scandinavian minimalism and Nordic nature. She loves to create timeless classics and brings her love for contemporary Scandinavian design into her knitting patterns. Sari loves knitting cables and all kinds of textured stitches using rustic natural fibres in neutral colours, but doesn’t shy away from colour work or lace either. Her most popular knitting patterns are the Poet sweater, the Kuutar pullover and the Seleste pullover.
