The Back Yoke Sweater features a split yoke on the back. The deep, roomy yoke extending from the back to the sleeves, creates a casual and comfortable silhouette.
It starts with the shoulder and back sections worked sideways, then stitches are picked up for the front and back. They are joined at the underarms and worked down in the round to the hem. The sleeves’ and collar’s stitches are also picked up from the body and worked in the round. You can choose between a turtleneck or a folded collar. The length is slightly cropped to complement the roomy body, but since it’s knitted top-down, you can easily adjust the length as you go (please note that this may affect the amount of yarn required).

The sample is size 2 and required 6 skeins of De Rerum Natura “Ulysse” (50 g / approx. 185 m), colors used are Granit (Turtleneck) and Poivre (Folded collar).
Note: The yarn used for my samples is an elastic woolen spun yarn which can be knit in a wide range of gauges using different needle sizes, and it is worked at a loose gauge. Make sure to knit gauge swatches and choose a yarn that gives you a fabric you are satisfied with.
NEEDLES
US 6 / 4 mm & US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles, 80 cm / 32” or longer AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round for sleeves.
US 3 / 3.25 mm needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round for collar.
Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.
OTHER MATERIALS
Tapestry needle, stitch markers, removable markers, waste yarn.
NOTES
The sample yarn’s swatch had a difference before and after blocking (20 sts and 29 rows to 19 sts and 27.5 rows). Take time to check your gauge before and after blocking and make a note. Also, all the lengths given in this pattern are the finished measurements. If you have not met the row gauge, you need to work according to your row gauge obtained after blocking.
